Karen

Karen Sparkes is the Children’s Programme Manager for WFDA.  She is a qualified youth and community practitioner with a background and many years’ experience in project and community development.

She has a real passion to see young people develop and flourish, by having opportunities to reach their full potential which is what her role in WFDA allows her to experience and do.

“The work that we do here is so impactful and changes so many lives in a positive way.  It’s a privilege being able to be part of the journey that the young people and their families are on and I believe that WFDA has an important role in that journey.

Our classes provide a wonderful sense of community where children discover they are NOT alone, and that in fact there are many of their peers who face and share similar experiences of having a learning difference.  Therefore, our classes provide a safe haven for the children and young people to not only gain tools and learn strategies to enhance their education but to discover how their unique gifts can positively benefit and influence those around them.”

Karen has been with WFDA for 3 years and enjoys working with the tutors, chatting with parents, planning with the Trustees but most importantly laughing and sharing life with the young people who are the real heart and soul of what she does here at WFDA.

“My role is to oversee the running of our superb classes which is served by our excellent team of tutors, raising the profile and promoting the great work of WFDA and focus on raising essential funds to ensure that we can continue the great work and serving our local community and beyond.”
